Gas rings ticking endlessly with no flame, an electric coil blazing orange on low, or an induction pad dropping out mid-sear? Our technician sorts it in your Murphy kitchen so every burner and zone answers the knob again.
Flame, bare coil, glass and magnetic induction cooktops each wear out differently. Six typical faults follow, matched with what we test early.
Gas won't catch when the spark tip cracks, the cap sits askew or boil-overs plug the ports.
Parts we check: spark electrode, burner cap, burner head
Spilled soapy water trapped beneath the burner bowls, or a jammed switch contact, keeps the clicking going.
Parts we check: spark switch, spark module, wiring
A snapped heating wire, a charred plug-in socket or a burned-out infinite switch leaves the coil dark.
Parts we check: surface element, terminal block, infinite switch
Contacts fused together inside the control route maximum power to the element no matter what you select.
Parts we check: infinite switch, control knob, harness
Heat stops when the electronics run too hot, the fan underneath stalls or the zone fails to recognize the pan.
Parts we check: power board, cooling fan, induction coil
Half-plugged holes, an out-of-spec regulator and a partly closed air shutter leave the flame short of oxygen.
Parts we check: burner ports, gas regulator, air shutter

Dacor induction cooktops and Midea electric ranges flag interrupted cooking with the codes below.

|---|---|---|
| d0 | Key held too longA key was pressed for more than eight seconds. Wipe the keypad dry, move any utensil lying on it and restart with POWER. | You can reset |

| C1 | Top sensor shortedThe temperature sensor under the glass has shorted and needs a technician. | Needs a technician |
| A2 | Cooling fan problemThe internal fan is not running because of a board, wiring or blade fault, which needs service. | Needs a technician |
Midea
| Code | What it means | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| E03 | Running too hotTurn the range off, wait roughly half an hour for it to cool, then restart. | You can reset |
| E02 | Temperature sensor faultThe oven sensor inside the range has stopped working, so a technician should replace it. | Needs a technician |
Code hanging on after a power cut, or absent from these tables? Our office will line up a visit.
Three neighbors on their stove repair.
Front burner did nothing but click for a week. A cracked piece and greasy ports, he said. Lights on the first try now.
The induction top kept shutting itself off halfway through dinner. He traced the cause, fixed it and even tested my pans to see which ones the cooktop recognizes.
Called at nine, the big coil worked again before noon. Simple.
Small things like an off-center cap or unsuitable cookware cause plenty of trouble. Run through these first.
Check the breaker panel. On gas units, the valve handle should lie parallel to the gas line.
Remove every cap, towel it dry and settle it evenly on its burner head.
When cool, clear plugged holes using an unbent paper clip.
Press a refrigerator magnet against the pan base; a strong grip means it's induction-ready.
